Work, family, outside expectations\u2014I wanted to do justice to it all and ran like clockwork. The word \u201ebreak\u201c simply didn\u2019t exist in my vocabulary. I always thought that if I stopped even for a moment, the whole house of cards would come crashing down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The turning point came on an unremarkable Tuesday morning. I was sitting at the kitchen table with my coffee cup, looking out the window and watching the autumn wind swirl the colorful leaves through the garden. In that moment, I felt an incredible exhaustion, but also a deep inner voice whispering: \u201eEnough is enough. You\u2019re allowed to breathe.\u201c For the first time, I didn\u2019t fight that feeling. I called in sick, took the day off, and did\u2014absolutely nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today I know: It\u2019s perfectly okay not to be strong all the time. This small, intentional break has given me back more quality of life than any time-management seminar ever could. I\u2019ve learned to listen to myself. My house of cards didn\u2019t collapse.
